The idea
Some people face the centre and some face outward. Left and right then depend on each person's facing: for a person facing outward, right is clockwise. Opposite and neighbour clues are the same either way. No JIPMAT or Rohtak PYQ so far mixes facings; these PW sets are practice above the exam's usual level (d3-d4).
Textbook vs exam method
Textbook method
- Place the clues that do not depend on facing (opposite, adjacent, between).
- Mark the facings that are given.
- Read each right/left clue from the reference person's facing; where the facing is unknown, try both.
- Check every clue on the final circle, including the facing clues.
Exam method
- Arrows on the circle. draw an inward or outward arrow at each seat as soon as you know it.
- Reference person. "A is k-th to the right of B" is counted from B, in B's right-hand direction.
- Case split once. one unknown facing gives two cases; resolve them with the next clue.
