The idea
Each person around the table also has one or two attributes (a company, a state, a crown colour, an arrival order, a number of languages). Clues mix seats and attributes. The method is the plain circle method with attribute values treated as extra people who share a seat. No JIPMAT or Rohtak PYQ so far is a circle with attributes; the sets here are PW practice at d2-d4.
Textbook vs exam method
Textbook method
- Draw the circle and a table with one row per seat.
- Place the clues that name a person and fix a seat.
- Place the attribute clues; each one places a value in a seat or links it to a person.
- Fill the rest by elimination and check every clue.
Exam method
- Anchor clue. begin with the clue that links the most items (person, seat and attribute).
- Tokens. write attribute values next to seats as you place them; a value with no person yet is still a seat clue.
- Elimination grid. for the last two or three people, a 3 x 3 grid of person vs attribute settles them fast.
- Two arrangements. if two fit, answer each question by checking both.
