The idea
A mixed (combo) DI set gives two linked displays: a pie with a bar, a bar with a ratio table, a pie with a line. One display gives shares or totals, the other splits them further. The key step is the cross-reference: carry a number from one display into the other.
Textbook vs exam method
Textbook method
- Identify the common base (state population, total books, total vehicles).
- Use the given number to fix that base.
- Convert the other display (ratio, %) into counts for the categories the question names.
- Do the final arithmetic.
Exam method
- Fix the base once. the clue that is a single number (prose gap 27, revenue 15180, total 90000) usually fixes every count.
- Build one row per category. only for the categories asked.
- Let totals cancel. in ratio questions.
