Worked examples
Example 4Easy
Alphabetical order by swapping: river apple stone kite bread cloud zebra pencil.
Solution: Step 1 swaps river and apple, Step 2 river and bread, … 6 steps; only kite never moves.
Example 2Sitter
Each step moves the next smallest number to the left. Input 64 29 85 13 47 92 38. How many steps?
Solution: 13, 29, 38, 47 move (Steps I–IV); 64 85 92 are then in place: 4 steps.
