Lesson 1 of 3 · Operators replaced by symbols
Bodmas after swap
Mathematical Operations, Coded Inequalities, Missing Number · for IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT · asked in JIPMAT 2022
The exam method
- BODMAS. 12 ÷ 4 = 3, 6 ÷ 2 × 3 = 9, so 36 − 3 + 9 = 42.
Worked examples
Example 2Easy
JIPMAT 2021: + means ÷, − means ×, ÷ means +, × means −: 36 × 12 + 4 ÷ 6 + 2 − 3 = ?
Solution: 42. 36 − 12 ÷ 4 + 6 ÷ 2 × 3 = 36 − 3 + 9.
Example 3Easy
JIPMAT 2022: + means ÷, ÷ means −, − means ×, × means +: 5 − (13 − 4 + 2 ÷ 6 × 15 ÷ 5) = ?
Solution: 150. 5 × (13 × 4 ÷ 2 − 6 + 15 − 5) = 5 × 30.
Watch out
