The idea
"The author would be LEAST likely to agree with..." is a favourite IPMAT stem (full-length mocks and PYQs). Three options are statements the author makes or would accept; one clashes with the text, usually through an absolute word or a reversal. The MOST-agree version asks for the option that follows from the author's own position.
Textbook vs exam method
Textbook method
Determine the author's opinion from the passage and evaluate each statement for consistency with it.
Exam method
- Write down the author's position, including concessions ("translators deserve credit, though not co-authorship").
- For LEAST. test each option against a specific sentence; the clash is usually explicit ("not... alone" vs "entirely"; "there are none" vs "can be trusted unaided").
- For MOST. prefer options that extend the author's stated test or recommendation (an app that lets users freeze a streak passes the author's "free to stop" test).
- Mark the stem: write L or M beside the question so you don't flip it.
