The idea
Detail questions ("According to the passage", "The passage states that", "Which of the following is NOT mentioned") test whether you can find and correctly read a specific sentence. They are the most common RC type in IPMAT Indore PYQs and the easiest to get right, as long as you check the text and do not answer from memory.

Read the question, return to the passage, find the relevant part, and choose the option that matches it.
Exam method
- Keyword scan. pick the most distinctive word in the stem (a name, number, technical term) and scan for it.
- Read the whole sentence plus one either side. Many traps live in the next sentence ("not because they are poor credit risks but because...").
- Match the meaning, not the words. The correct option is usually a paraphrase ("in a graded way" becomes "gradually").
- For NOT/EXCEPT questions. confirm three options in the passage and the fourth is the answer. Mark each "S" (stated) as you confirm it.
- For sequence or cause-effect details. write the chain in short form (e.g. rules eased 2019, first iPhone made in India 2017, stores opened 2023) before reading the options.
