The idea of Correctly / incorrectly spelt word (Rohtak/JIPMAT)

Four words are given; you pick the one spelt correctly, or the one spelt wrongly. JIPMAT asked two spelling items a year in 2024-25 and Rohtak includes them in its vocabulary block. The words are standard British spellings of commonly misspelt words.

The exam method

  1. Underline 'correctly' or 'incorrectly'. in the stem.
  2. Look for a pattern in the options. If all four are versions of one word, compare them letter by letter at the double letters and the ending.
  3. Check the trouble spots. double letters, -ance/-ence, -able/-ible, ie/ei, silent letters (rhythm, mnemonic).
  4. Use the related word. definite comes from finite (so definitely, not definately); consensus is linked to consent (s, not c).
