What to read for IPMAT and JIPMAT: NCERT, a word book, editorials, plus free lessons, tools and mocks on IPMATway. One book per area is enough.

Which book is best for IPMAT? There is no single official book. Use NCERT Maths for Quant, newspaper editorials for reading and one good word book.

You do not need a stack of books for IPMAT. A few good ones plus lots of timed practice work better than many. This page lists what students commonly use, and what is free on IPMATway. No book here is paid for or endorsed by the authors. Last checked 31 October 2026.

Quant

  • NCERT Maths, Class 9 and 10. The NTA bulletin says JIPMAT Quant is "up to class 10 Mathematics", so this is the base for all three exams. Do all the exercises you can.
  • Class 11 and 12 Maths (NCERT) for the harder IPMAT Indore Short Answer questions: sequences, permutation and combination, probability, basic algebra.
  • A general quant practice book from a coach or publisher of your choice for extra sums. Choose one with answers and solutions, and do not buy several.
  • Free here: the Quant syllabus map has lessons and worked examples, and the Calculation Gym builds mental speed.

Verbal and reading

  • A word book such as Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis is a popular choice. Learn words in context, not as a list.
  • A grammar reference only if your basics are weak. School grammar is usually enough.
  • Newspaper editorials (The Hindu, Indian Express) every day. This is the best RC material and it is free.

Logical reasoning and DI (Rohtak and JIPMAT)

Past papers and mocks

There are no official past papers for IPMAT Indore or Rohtak that we could find. Reconstructed papers exist, and IPMATway labels real questions as "actual PYQ" by year. See previous year papers and the free mocks.
