Lesson 5 of 8 · Table calculation set

Derived quantity

DI: Tables · for IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT · asked in JIPMAT 2026

The idea of Table calculation set

A DI table gives numbers by row and column; JIPMAT asks two to five one-step questions on it: a percentage change, a ratio, an average, a share of a total, a value built from two columns (percent of a number, runs per wicket), the highest or second highest, or the next value of a pattern. JIPMAT 2022 (company expenditure), 2023 (toll plaza), 2024 (family expenditure), 2025 (faculty by department) and 2026 (steel, bowler, businessmen) all set such tables.

The exam method

  1. Unit first. "in 100s" or "in ₹10,000" is applied once to the final answer.
  2. Use printed totals. when they exist (family expenditure: 1050 of 10500 = 10% in one step).
  3. Estimate before computing. for the largest percent change compare rise/base quickly; compute exactly only the close ones.
  4. Approximate options. 190.4 / 1848 = 0.103; options 0.094, 0.043, 0.101, 0.085: pick 0.101 without more digits.
