The idea of Table calculation set
A DI table gives numbers by row and column; JIPMAT asks two to five one-step questions on it: a percentage change, a ratio, an average, a share of a total, a value built from two columns (percent of a number, runs per wicket), the highest or second highest, or the next value of a pattern. JIPMAT 2022 (company expenditure), 2023 (toll plaza), 2024 (family expenditure), 2025 (faculty by department) and 2026 (steel, bowler, businessmen) all set such tables.
The exam method
- Unit first. "in 100s" or "in ₹10,000" is applied once to the final answer.
- Use printed totals. when they exist (family expenditure: 1050 of 10500 = 10% in one step).
- Estimate before computing. for the largest percent change compare rise/base quickly; compute exactly only the close ones.
- Approximate options. 190.4 / 1848 = 0.103; options 0.094, 0.043, 0.101, 0.085: pick 0.101 without more digits.
