The idea of Round robin standings

Every team plays every other team once. Wins, draws and losses add up to n - 1 for each team, and the points add up to 2 per match. A partly erased table is solved by turning each known row into its possible (W, D, L) splits.

The exam method

  1. Split table. 8 points in 5 matches is 4-0-1 or 3-2-0; a loss count of 0 selects 3-2-0.
  2. Leftover points. 30 minus the known teams' points is shared by the rest; the "less than 5" clue then decides.
  3. Draw count. sum draws per team, then halve.
