Lesson 5 of 7 · Two rows facing each other

Odd one out

Linear Arrangement · for IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT

The idea of Two rows facing each other

Two rows face each other: one row faces south, the other north, and each person faces the one opposite. The only new idea is direction: the south-facing row has its right on the west side. No JIPMAT or Rohtak PYQ so far uses two rows; these PW sets are practice at d2-d3.

The exam method

  1. One numbering for both rows;. "faces" = same seat number.
  2. Flip once. write "R = west" above the south-facing row.
  3. Answer chains. ("second to the left of the one who faces B1") in two steps: find who faces B1, then count from that person's facing.
