Example 4Typical
Seven persons J-P, three generations: L is the father of M and N; K is J's only child; O is L's brother-in-law; P is the nephew of unmarried N; males are fewer than females. How is L related to K?
Solution: uncle. J is L's sister (with husband O) or O's wife (O being L's wife's brother); in both trees L is K's uncle.
Watch out
- "How many couples?" Two marriages are stated; an unmarried man and woman who are not siblings could still be a couple, so the count is not determined.
