Worked examples
Example 5Typical
A biryani costs Rs. 140 per plate in ingredients. Fixed costs are Rs. 25,000 a month. A cook costs Rs. 500 a day and can make at most 10 plates a day. The price is Rs. 240 and every day has the same demand. What is the minimum monthly sale with no loss?
Solution: 570. With one cook (at most 10 a day), 30n x 100 >= 40,000 needs n >= 13.3, which is too many for one cook. With two cooks, 3,000n >= 55,000 gives n >= 18.33, so n = 19 a day, or 570 a month.
